Clarins Ireland and Arthritis Ireland have joint initiative in the fight against rheumatic diseases.

For every Tonic Body Treatment Oil sold, Clarins will make a donation to Arthritis Ireland to support people in taking control of their arthritis and also to raise awareness of this disease. This is part of a worldwide initiative by Clarins in association with The Arthritis Foundation, whose aim is to raise more funds for research and find effective therapies to treat serious rheumatic diseases.

Did you know?

Arthritis affects one in five people in Ireland – nearly one million people nationwide. There are over 100 different types of arthritis and these can affect people of all ages, from babies and toddlers right through to those in their adult years.
Eoghan O’Sullivan, General Manager Clarins, Ireland said: “We are delighted to be associated with Arthritis Ireland in bringing our global initiative to Ireland, an initiative which has deep roots in the fabric of the Clarins brand. The funds donated to Arthritis Ireland will help contribute to vital research in the quest to find a cure, while helping to raise awareness and understanding of this disease. Clarins are very proud to be a part of this partnership with Arthritis Ireland.”
Gráinne O’Leary, Head of Services, Arthritis Ireland said: ‘‘We are thrilled to be working with such an iconic brand as Clarins, and I want to thank them for choosing to support Arthritis Ireland and help us in our work. Thanks to advances in diagnosis, in medical treatment and complementary interventions like our Living Well with Arthritis self-management programme, the way people are living with arthritis is changing for the better. But there is still a huge amount of work to do before we achieve our vision of a world free from this hugely damaging disease. Arthritis Ireland is here to help people take control of their disease, while we invest in research to find new treatments and, ultimately, a cure. This partnership with Clarins will be instrumental in helping us achieve our vision.”

About Arthritis

Ireland Arthritis Ireland is dedicated to working with people with arthritis and having a positive impact on the lives of those with the condition in three key ways:

  • Investing in research to find new treatments and a cure
  • Enabling and empowering people to become effective self-managers
  • Raising understanding of arthritis as a chronic disease and fighting for better healthcare services

Arthritis, as part of the musculoskeletal group of diseases (MSDs), costs the exchequer more than €700m every year in lost working hours and forced retirements and is the single biggest cause of disability in Ireland. About 165,000 (18%) people with arthritis in Ireland are under the age of 55.
