At Jordan we believe that taking steps towards a more sustainable way of life is a responsibility we all share, so here are some of our tips for a more sustainable festive season;

Rent a Christmas tree

Looking for the most eco-friendly Christmas tree option? Real Christmas trees are much more sustainable than artificial alternatives. In fact, one study concluded you’d have to use your fake fir for 20 years for it to be greener. That said, seven million real trees will be dumped in January rather than recycled. This year you could go one further when it comes to an eco-friendly Christmas tree by renting a real tree from an Irish company like Pines & Co.

Wrap gifts with recycled paper or fabric

Many rolls of wrapping paper contain non-recyclable elements like foil, glitter or plastic.

There’s a lot of free paper out there, so why spend money on buying gift wrap that’s hard to recycle? You can get creative and turn your old stash of magazines or newspapers into gift wrappers.

Reduce your food waste

Most of us are pretty good at getting creative with our leftovers throughout the year, but when Christmas comes, we can be a little more wasteful. Reduce your shopping list down to what you’ll actually need – it will prevent food waste and save you money!
